Yep, me too! I think I managed to baggsy two of the last Fat Airics before they were discontinued and I absolutley LOVE 'em! The air bed is now redundant.
Alkpit have now sent me one of their Dozer SIM's..and I am confused. The mat is a mat of two halves...one half has a dimpled effect and the other half is somewhat flatter with the two valves at the flat end. Can anybody tell me if the valves should be at my head or at my feet ? The Dozer seems to be of a more substabtial nature than the one I originally ordered.
We use them with the valves at the head and the dimpled bits at the bottom. Neither of us are spring chickens but we had a week away on them and they were fab! Rolled out and opened one of the valves as soon as the tent was up, then blew a few puffs of air into them after we were all set up. OH had to let some out as his was too firm.
Just a brief note (albeit reviving an old thread) of my personal experience with Alpkit. I recently purchased a sleeping bag and a SIM from Alpkit. I found their staff friendly and helpful on the phone, my order was packed the same day and I got emails to keep me up to date with order progress. The goodies arrived next day, roughly 24 hours after I placed my order.

And how happy were you with the kit you ordered? :)

I have had a very positive experience with Alpkit - our original fat airics developed a leak. When I contacted them they were extremely helpful and replaced them very quickly. All I had to do was send the valves back. The rest of the airics are currently in the garden being used by my kids to cover their dugout when they are playing at being soldiers.

We've had Fat Airics and found the service at Alpkit to be really first rate.
They still weren't as good as our Thermarest SIMs, though of course there's a price difference. We found the Thermarests fold down easier and don't need any extra help to inflate. And, the XLs are considerably wider (put x 2 together for a King Size bed!).
