I stumbled across this forum a few weeks back and have been reading with interest about everyones camping fun. In 2002 on a whim we purchased a Sunncamp Tourist plus 6 (the one with 3 pod bedrooms) We only went away in it once that year for a weekend and then it was packed away for a couple of years and used at weekends over the years about 3 times.
We have been renovating our house for the past 6 years and all our extra cash has gone into it, but this year I thought we should get away as a family so out came the tent. I shopped around and managed to get some bits from various places and purchased camping stoves, airbeds and pots and pans etc. We borrowed some folding chairs and a small table and set off for a week at the Shrubbery just outside Lyme Regis (found thanks to this site) We arrived back yesterday and I have to say we all thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go again
How we managed to get it all into our little car and roof box I don't know, all I want to do now is get my mitts on one of those nice kitchen units so that I can store bits in rather than in various bags in the porch area.
I'm so pleased that I stumbled across this site and just wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing.
Welcome to the forum aggie73. So glad you enjoyed your first trip away and it was a success. You will soon realise that this "hobby" becomes addictive and you will want more of the camping experience. I myself remember when we first stumbled upon this forum and if it was not for all of the valuable hints and tips from fellow campers we probably would not still be doing it. So a big thumbs up to you all .
Do you have any other trips booked?

That's it, Aggie, you're in...you're hooked . This site should carry a warning that it's addictive and encourages a compulsion to camp at every opportunity...but who'd have it any other way? I love it here, hope you do too!
I also stumbled across this site a number of years ago now whilst trying to find a list of camp sites. Its been invaluble to us too. It doesnt matter what your query/problem, there is always someone on here with the right answer for you. Then there are always the fun threads that get started and you just spend hours reading and laughing (or is that just me). Tha antics we get upto!!
It was lovely to get away from it all, it was such a relaxing holiday. I really, really enjoyed cooking bacon and sausage butties for breakfast in the morning on the little stoves and sometimes cooked in the evening too. We had a couple of those lovely little disposable bbqs too which was very handy. The peace and quiet was lovely. Nobody complained about being cold or missing their internet, ipod etc etc. Before we left I let the kids (17, 16 and 14) choose some new books and they read those, I am still reading mine 'The tent, the bucket and me' which had me in stitches.
We are thinking about trying out a more localish campsite next month for a weekend if we can find somewhere at short notice.
