I don't think £25-30 is a lot for a pitch with electric, that has a pool, club etc.. especially in Cornwell in August as a previous poster said that's only £210 a week, it would cost you 3 times as much for caravan or cottage.
i was looking into haven sites and found them very expensive...but then we have got a big family...ive got to find somewere for august yet...hubbys not long since announced hes got a week off work so i better get my bum in gear...i think with the cc sites you do get what you pay for...we stayed at one a couple of weeks ago that was lovely...with its own fishing pond and log cabin for £14pn...but as much as it was lovely the kids wernt allowed to kick a cheapy plastic ball around the middle of the field as they might damage the caravans?? i fail to see how a cheapy plastic ball kicked by a toddler could possibly dint a caravan...dont get me wrong lovely site just not very kiddy frieindly whereas the one for £9 per night does allow the kids to kick a ball around..and its also got really clean toilets/showers...might have found a winner there for quiet weekends away..tho will let you know when we are home
Ime not bothered about club, or parks for kids, just clean showers and washing facilities, EHU, tidy grass and dogs kept under control at all times. I dont think that is too much too ask

Just been on to a site in perranporth enquiring about staying in august. The prices were £25.00 per night WITHOUT electric and £30.00 with. They somehow managed to find a place after being told they were full by saying "We have just had a cancellation", But owing to the price i decided against it. Even the C & CC dont charge that!!!!
If that's the fee for the pitch, regardless of how many people, I don't think that's too bad. It wouldn't do for me, as it's a lot for one person, but for a family in high season, in probably the busiest holiday area in the country, I don't think it's bad.
I priced up a caravan where we are going and for 2 weeks camping with ehu on a large pitch we got in for £500. The standard caravan would be £1250...................I will stick with my tent I think
I had a pleasant surprise last weekend when I had to go without the she-devil until the following day to Rhos on Sea. I explained to the site owner that I was on my own but wifey would be joining me the following day...She said that will be 7 quid per night and pay the extra when the she-devil turned up. The site itself was excellent and has a huge tent field which is very flat. It's ideal for solo campers but still excellent value for a couple at 14 quid a night.
We have paid £208 for 7 nights on a quiet site in Cornwall without EHU. Thats the most I have ever paid before but at the end of the day its still a cheap holiday in peak season.
Oh and Scarborough has a great park and ride, £3.60 for the day for a family of four, and it takes you right on to the seafront. Hoping to use public transport a bit in Cornwall, if its not too expensive.
