I agree Jellboy. We once did "interfere" with a tent when we were wildcamped in Lewis on the Outer Hebrides.

It was a chap with 4 young daughters who were pitched next to us and we knew that they were away for the whole day on a boat trip.

The wind had got up a bit that day and all their stuff that had been left outside their tent was stating to blow about a bit and so we gathered it all up and put it in the entrance to their tent as this was open anyway.

We zipped up the tent doorway and double guyed the windward side of their tent.

We were there when they returned and told them what we had done before they even got to their tent.

It is common sense to look after other people's property but there is a huge difference between "looking after" and the actions of that self opiniated twit that njc123 told us about. In that case I do not know who I am more annoyed about. The person who did that to someone else's tent or the Warden who did not demand that that person leave the site immediately.

The only time we have touched anybody's tnt was whne we were camped at a site & a tent was guyed down at all & the wind started to blow badly. Myself, the site owner & my OH went over & pegged all the guys down. We told the owners as soon as they got back. It was their first camp and they were so grateful they went out & bought all some wine.

In your case this person went too far & I would have ben livid if that had happened to me.

As others have said, don't let the action of one halfwit put you off. The vast majority are very much community spirited.

We were only away for two nights this weekend, and in that time I lent our rechargeable pump to one fella who was slaving away with a manual pump after driving Scotland-to-London-to-Yorkshire in one day, helped someone carry out a temporary repair on a snapped fibreglass pole with a roll of Duct Tape I carry for emergency patching, then helped him and his OH pitch their 6 man tunnel, and later donated a few leftover bottles of beer to the next pitch as we were leaving.

We're a friendly bunch.
