would love to go there, also not sure about the dogs though....Homer went ballistic at chickens, took him 4 days to accept them and that was only at a distance
A colleague at work with a young family suggested camping in the New Forest for a weekend. Good idea I thought, however, I too have concerns about Borda going ballistic at the donkeys and horses!

At that point I'd have been belting them with even bigger sticks, little gits, and giving the parents a mouthful for good measure.

I've camped in the New Forest for many years, yes you have to be careful with your food ( made that mistake once ) as for being booted in the head whilst asleep I think you'll find when you are asleep so are the ponies and donkeys, they normally retreat to the forest. Well thats been my experience for the past 15 years anyway. If they were that dangerous then you wouldn't be able to camp there surely. Just use common sense and don't feed them or leave food laying about.
The NF is on of my all time favourite places to camp.

We`ve camped at Roundhill more than once, both times we`ve had horses on our pitch, and the dog went mad.....horses are totally unphased by barking dogs.
We love it there and had a fantastic time a few weeks ago. Never had a problem with the ponies overnight, and the dog is eaither a heavy sleeper or they stay away from the tents.

We were at Roundhills recently, the kids started collecting stones and pinecones and making handy little piles round our pitches.
They've now learnt that pinecones and stones that resemble small lumps of sun-dried chewed and digested grass aren't in fact pinecones nor stones. So take plenty of wipes and gel spray for cleaning up small hands
