Im starting to a mass a large selection of camping gear and am runing out of space to store it all. Im thinking on getting one of them plastic garden storage things to keep out in the garden and want to put my tents and other camping gear in it. Just wondered if any of you already do this or if there are reasons not to do this?
I stored it in the bedroom where my grandson sleeps when he stays round, until we acquired so much gear that there was no room for him. So I bought a garden shed for all the gardening gear, cleared out the brick built shed in the garden and now store camping stuff in there. Works very well and tents have survived the winter with no trouble. I still keep things like sleeping bags, bedding etc indoors.
I have the same plastic storage garden thing you're talking about. I have kept everything including the tent in it, I did intend that to be temporary for the actual tent(between camping trips in the summer) but forgot about it and only when I went looking for the tent the following spring did I realise. Anyway, it was fine. No mouse holes, no damp.
I would recommend that you keep your tent under a bed or somewhere inside, and every other bit of camping gear in the storage container.
My sis left her tent in one of the keter garden store, plastic shed things. somehow rain got blown in under the door and the tent was sitting in a pool of water .I had the job of rescuing it , washing mouldy inner tents etc.
Oh dear, seems I was lucky then! I wouldn't risk the actual tent especially now I've got a new one and it's my baby, my pride and joy. It's got it's own special cupboard inside the house. I say goodnight to it every night.
We put the tent in the loft - but it does take some strength to get it up there. Before that, it lived in the corner of the bedroom (which is not ideal, I know, but it was the only space we had at the time).

I have similar problem and intend buying a plastic shed, still undecided on size, and keeping in the concrete yard area. Noticed that some have holes in the back. Maybe for fastening to a wall?
Won't risk storing tents in it though because of damp. These over-winter in a dry garage - except it's 6 miles away. Duvet, bedding and towels are all in vacuum bags so in theory they should be ok.

My Kyham tent is currently living in the boot of the car.
All the other stuff including my cabanon tent is stored in the under stairs cupboard. It is crammed and so I will need a big sort out this autumn to make room for everything!
My small outside shed is full of stuff as well. I might ebay my dog crate and wooden director chairs to make a bit of room.
Where does it all come from? But I know where it all ends up!
Thanks for your posts. Looks like I will have to find somewhere else to store the gear. I have no more room under me bed and I'm still at home with the parents. I am looking at the rafters in the girlfriends garage!
