Hi, we would love to go to Ireland, i dont know anyone who has been and was wondering if anyone had ever been over there and camped?? Did you drive??

Any advice greatly recieved.

Do you mean Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland?

We traveled round ROI and did some camping in 2007. We drove - took the car on the Ferry from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire (Dublin) then toured round. We drove accross to Gallway then down the West Coast, down to the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsular then round to Cork and back up the East Coast to where we started. It was brilliant!

I can recommend Mannix Point Camping in the Ring of Kerry - lovely site and very picturesque area!

Sound like a real possibilty Ireland a place we will go at some point.

I live in Northern Ireland, and have camped all around Ireland.

First of all bear in mind the cost of living is very expensive there at the moment. It's quite shocking how expensive even the basics are, the Euro isn't up to much and last year for eg. a soup and bread roll for 2 in a coffee shop was 30 Euro.

So, if you're still gonna do it, I'd second Sleepy Hollows in Co Donegal, it's a short walk from Leo's Pub. Leo is Enya's Dad. The pub is well known for it's food and sometimes Leo himself will get up on stage to do a few jigs. He also has local musicians come in at the weekends.

Then there's The Apple, in Tipperary. It's an apple farm in the Autumn, and you can pick the fruit and eat as much as you want. It's always been quite cheap too. Also in Tipperary is Ballinacourty House Caravan park.

Roundwood in Co Wexford is a great site. It's a short drive to the coast and the area has been used for filming tv series Ballykissangel.

If you want to go into the North, to take advantage of british pounds and pence, there's a great site on the North Coast called Ballyness. It's just up the road from Bushmills Distillery. It's hard to get into at this time of year, but then they all will be.

Hi, i never really post here but i adivly follow the site, there is no such equivalent site in Ireland & so we've gotten all our tips/info from this site, we are from Ireland (Southern), we have recently moved from a tent to a tin tent, we always go to the UK on our main hols - 2 weeks Cornwall in June, but obviously we weekend here, there are many lovely sites all over Ireland, we probably have been to them all, the other replies are right about the weather it does tend to rain alot but to be honest in all our times in the UK the weather has been the same, so if its guaranteed sun your after Ireland is probably not for you but if ur happy with UK weather then you should be fine, I could recommend loads of sites, to name but afew - Caseys in Clonea strand, dungarvan, Co. Wtaerford, beautiful beachside setting, Wavecrest in Caherdaniel on the Ring of Kerry, Garrettstown House in Co.Cork, Nagles in Doolin Co. Clare, list goes on, average price per night for 2 + 2 is around 30euro, contray to above post eating is similar in price to uk cost when you convert, scenery is second to none, you'll love it
