All set for out first ever family camping trip. Got the tent thanks to my lovely family but had to book at the last minute and were very lucky to get into Wolds Way. Lovely reviews but have to admit didn't read them till after booking.  Never put a tent up before so  was worried about the very hard ground, then someone mentioned they had used the grey or yellow deltas at Wolds Way. So thanks to Rob and Dorothy at Delta, the pegs and dog stake are winging their way to me this weekend. Has anyone else used the non metal deltas in hard ground, we have some hard ground pegs as well, can i use the deltas to peg the footprint down. Sorry for the long post but really excited now.

You could use delta pegs on your footprint but it would be a bit of a waste of good pegs when cheaper ones would do.  I've got the plastic ones and they're brilliant.

Have a great time - I went to Wolds Way last year and loved it - the showers etc are fantastic! It was quite windy though as it is fairly high up and yes, the ground is hard! We used rock pegs for most of the pegging out and Deltas for the main guys. Just use ordinary pegs for the groundsheet - anything else would be a waste. And don't worry if you run out of rock pegs - they sell them in the shop!

Enjoy!

Hi De88ie

Wolds Way is a lovely site, but as everyone else has put, you need rock pegs. I was really pleased with my box of blue diamond rock pegs, which went in to the ground like butter.

Have a lovely time, best wishes Sam

I've camped at Wolds Way and the plastic Deltas went in...no problems.

The main use for deltas is on guylines. The footprint wouldn't necessarily need any pegging as the tent on top stops it going anywhere. That said, we use cheap wire pegs on the footprint just to stop it blowing around whilst we're sorting everything else out.

Normal or rock pegs will be fine for the bottom of the round its perimeter.

If you find dry conditions has left already hard ground even, well, harder, use the rock pegs first to create a bit of a pilot hole for your nylon deltas.

Enjoy your trip.

The problem at Wolds Way is not hard ground, but that the ground is more rocks/stones than soil. I damaged some delta's there a couple of weeks ago, rock pegs & lots of them are required. Lovely site though & very friendly owners & a great price.
