So I am back from our first family camping trip. And I learned a few things!
After all the stressing about groundsheets, a simple large tarp is fantastic. Easy to lay, peg it anywhere, folds up to seal the storm flaps and throws away real easy afterwards!
All the stressing about going just wasn't worth it! We had a fantastic time!
My OH doesn't like the lack of privacy - he was wonderful in the evenings, but a bear with a sore head in the mornings... because he values the privacy and doesn't like sharing a washroom. Utility tent is on my list!
I learned I can cook anything on an open fire - my personal favourite was spiced rice and Thai green curry (I'm vegan so all veggie based!) and there is nothing quite like an open fire.
But most of all, I learned that being with my family by the sea, under canvas with no planned outings or games, or electronic babysitting gadgets (iPod, phone, DS) is the most precious time I hae spent in years. Priceless.
Now I just need a smaller tent to take my daughter away with me later this week! Any ideas? x
