I've done the search thingy, and have decided on 10 deltas, but being the nosey type, I'd like to know which way round they go in. The bit where the guy rope hooks onto at the top - does that go nearest the tent, or is it the other way round?
Someone had posted some pics, but the post was so old, the pics wouldn't show anymore.
We had MAJOR winds last time in Scotland, so I want to be more prepared, this year.
TIA

Yeah the "wrong way". Threw me when I used mine for the first time this holiday, but they do work. Not a single one budged and they held my rubbish halfords kitchen tent despite some serious wind.

while on the subject of pegs, after having problems last time out with hard ground I have purchased some rock pegs and was wondering how far in the ground to sink them ? surly if all the way to the top they will never come out.

Well, that's the idea with pegs you know...so that the wind doesn't jerk them loose! If I can pull a peg out with minimal effort it can't be holding the tent down very well.
Almost all pegs (except wooden ones and some fancy designs) should be sunk fully in. If you don't then they're not going to hold as well as they should, plus anyone tripping over them will get a nasty slash on the foot or ankle. To get stubborn pegs out either use a peg puller or a large and sturdy crook top peg. You can also lever pegs out using another sturdy peg and a stone to brace it.

what i use to get rock pegs out is a claw hammer which if required you can tap the claw part into the ground next to the peg using your rubber mallet and then use the claw hammer to lever pegs out, this year I bought some blue diamond hard ground pegs and they have a hole in the plastic top that a peg puller fits just nice
another option would be to cut short lengths of guy line and loop one around each rock peg just under the plastic top and then you could use that to pull the peg out same sort of thing that you see on the fancy v pegs or titanium pegs
