I've done it all thanks to your help and guidance, I've bought the tent and the goodies and am now booked in for 2 nights on my 1st camping trip and to say I'm excited is an understatement..

I've gone for a non EHU for my 1st time so I can really see what its about, I don't want it to be too home from home although I'm not going without too many comforts.. I've only booked 2 nights and not too far away either ( I must say the campsite search facility on here is fantastic)  mainly to see what I've forgotten which is going to be something important guaranteed, I nearly made a boo boo and booked a campsite with no loo's, now that would have caused me to have a hissy fit!

I don't have one but I'm curious more than anything do any of you ever take a small generator when you have no EHU, I had a look earlier and you can get quite small quiet ones for lights and small appliances ect ?

Thanks so so much, Julie

Can someone tell me why I have a sad blue face in the title for my post? I didn't put it in there, I've even tried to remove it but I can't, how odd !!

The sad blue face just means you've not had any replies.  Now I have replied it should have gone

Oh and I hope you enjoy your trip, we are fairly new to it all as well and so far love it!

I'm off on the 27th & 28th and maybe the 29th if I get get out of a family BBQ ?  I've bought half of go outdoors already although their 10% off on a price match comes in handy, thats saved us a bomb..

Talking of cool boxes, how long does the food stay cool and edible in one with just frozen cool packs, apparently the place we are going to is really basic with no shops etc which is fine, a pub is about a mile away again not too bad but the surroundings look fantastic, its Manor Meadows just outside Fordingbridge, the reviews are really good..

Luckily no little ones, mine are grown up, well suppose to be but that could be an interesting story when i get home ?

Thanks for the replies, I love this site already, you feel so in contact with others before you've even arrived

ive got the 12v/240v coolbox so i put frozen cool packs in the box as well freeze all you food you can before you go then stuff it full if there is any gaps put a blown up carryer bag in to take away the warm air in it ,,,i find it keeps cooler then

i do plug mine in the fag lighter with the 12v so mine stay very cool

i would say that the frozen will be defrosted by the next morin ,,,so dont take to much try and by fresh when you get there

Dont need a generator when no ehu,use this trip as a learning experience and see what you use electric for.inflate air bed for example, you can get a pump 12v and do it from the car,the kettle you can boil water on the stove, who cares how long it takes.and before bed fill a flask with hot water for the morning.we go with ehu if we can get it and not if we cant, you seem to get more room on most sites if your none ehu.you could always take a laptop and some films for the little ones before lights out.what ever you do relax, theres no better feeling than sitting down to that first glass of whatever after you have pitched, you will love it im sure, good luck

Okie dokies and the wine is already bought, the thought of just sitting and doing nothing with a glass of wine in one hand, a deck of cards in the other and soft music playing quietly makes me want to start off now..

Its funny you mention the pump, I bought a lovely bed last week with pump but failed to notice it was electric and by then it was out the box so have just ordered a 12 volt one.

Blimey the cool boxes work really well then, we have a 12volt one of those too so thats handy, just haven't used it for frozen food etc.

Thanks for your imput, its really appreciated
