We had our first trip away last week and it was great!  I am grateful to the people who told me to go ahead and buy our Sunncamp Prism.  It really was an easy tent for 2 complete novices to put up and also easy to take down again. We had loads of room for the 5 of us.

Most of the equipment such as self inflating mattresses, cooker, cool box, sleeping bags etc. I was able to source from links and advice posted here and I got some real bargains.

The site we chose was based on reviews on here too and it was everything we wanted and more.

So thank you..................... I am now hooked!!!!!!!!

That's great news percent! Camping 'if you get it right' is great fun. I wish that this forum was available when we first started camping - it would have saved us lots of wasted money on equipment that we had to upgrade after one use.

One word of warning ::: Camping is incredibly addictive - especially the need to keep buying more 'stuff'

I can't buy anything else.

My poor children were jammed between self inflating mattresses and sleeping bags. The little 2 in car seats had their legs straight out infront of them resting on a pile of camping chairs and windbreaks.

The dog ended up curled up on my feet in the footwell

All our clothes were packed in rubble bags as I knew I'd never get holdalls in. As it happened the rubble bags were brilliant as being thicker than bin liners they stood up straight and didn't spill or split.

We ate from trays on picnic rugs, cross legged. I had thought about a table but it wouldn't have gone in the car and actually us all sat on the floor together eating and laughing was great fun!

However, anti-camping husband is now trailing the camping sites to find alternative methods of power so we can camp non ehu and is dropping huge hints for a trailer.  I don't see the need though yet. I'd rather do a few more trips as we are and then we can see what other things we want or really need!

Our kids were like that last year, we had to put them in the car and then pack around them!  I too owe alot to the other forumers on here as the advice and tips I've read have been invaluable.  We changed our car recently and camping influenced our decision on what car to buy.

The need to buy more stuff is true, on our way back from holiday on Saturday my husband was talking about buying a roof box.

As a father of 4....and a camper...I had a wee chuckle at your description of packing the car Percent....Brought back memories of stopping at services etc...Opening the doors of the car...and having loads fall out!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed your 1st trip...Heres to many more....and  Im sure with time the packing and space issues will get better....and personally...I'd listen to that so called anti camping hubby of yours when he drops hints re a trailer.....

Sounds like hes hooked as well....Alternative sources of power eh??.........

Jelboy.

Were the same. When we first loaded our car up we looked like the Clampetts....

However thanks to this site we got great ideas and have bought foldaway kit that fits nicely into our car...
