Hello everyone.
We are new to camping and really enjoy reading everyone elses posts on this forum, so I thought I would share our camping experience with you.
My OH and I are both in our 50's, and when I finished work last year, we bought 2 x Cocker spaniel pups
I suggested to my OH that we should start camping with them. She laughed and said " I haven't been in a tent since I was in the guides"
However, we agreed that we would give it a go and bought a Coleman Coastline 4, 2 x sleeping bags (Lidl) and a double inflatable mattress (Tesco) on the proviso that if she didn't enjoy it, I would sell all our kit and put it down to experience.
We booked into a site in Whitby in July, and when we arrived, the wind was gusting at 25-30 mph..but no rain....
Undeterred, we started to erect our tent for the first ever time in those winds....
Never have we tried our patience more than trying to figure out what went where and how without a single raised eye brow or rolling of the eyes...
Yessss, we did it...
Our first night was brill, and I can honestly say we are now hooked...
Unfortunately, our Coleman wasn't up to the job for those winds and two guy rope stays ripped off the side of the tent and the seam at the front ripped .
So it was back to the camping shop and upgraded to a Outwell Oakland L (much better tent) which we then took to Rutland for a couple of days in July.
That site was brill, as it was next door to a RAF base and we could watch jets take off and land from our tent.
We have now joined the camping and caravan club and are looking forward to our next trip in September to Castle Barnard.
I am trying really hard not to buy a Icey tec box untill we have at least tried our £7 ice box from Asda, and am thinking really hard on how i'm going to introduce a Cadac Carri-Chef Deluxe to replace our single burner stove.
Thanks everyone.........
