Probably a silly question, but is there any reason why you shouldn't use magnets on a tent flysheet or window? Not likely to affect the waterproofing treatment of the material or some such issue?
Our overnight tent doesn't have window covers, but paired up whiteboard magnets do an excellent job of holding fabric over the windows for decency purposes. Don't want to attach anything permanently as no where to sew anything to without going through the flysheet.
Good idea. The only thing that I would suggest would be to have a piece of cloth between the magnet and the tent fabric or window to stop rubbing. I will be getting some, as it will solve a problem I had.

I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
My mother used to do this many, many years ago. It made me smile to see someone else doing it. She'd get a small square of cloth and sew a magnet into it.
If you go to the local dump and get a sealing strip off an old fridge you will find a long magnet in there complete with rubber backing, could be very useful in your case.

Hi Bob
Probably a bit big for my needs, but I bet the tip will come in useful for someone...
