We're in the market for a new tent, perhaps not straight away but certainly in the near future. Problem is there just isn't the perfect tent out there for us. They are either too big, too small, not the right bedroon configuration or takes too long to put up, we don't like the colour or there aren't enough windows...

If I could design my own tent it would be...

made of superlight super effective super cheap polycotton - ok ok so that isn't possible but it's still desirable

pitch in 40 mins or less

pitch as one with all the bedrooms in it

be 6 berth in 3 dividable bedroom pods

fully enclosed integral canopy (like the wolf lake's as opposed to the bear lake's)

Mesh on all the windows and doors

good quality sig or zig

large windows with internal zipped curtains which go up and down without a lot of faff - like the new coleman coastline ones

darker colour over the bedroom pods (like our killington)

Have a pelmet covering the bedroom pods elastic like the vangos - i think this looks neat and tidy

Make good use of a standard size pitch without going over it

Have matching accessories like footprint, carpet and windbreak.

Be a nice colour - ergh have you seen the nutria/honey vangos blergh

Hmmm have considered it but there's no canopy. When I say enclosed I didnt mean with a door i meant the sides had to come down to the floor, I would prefer a different colour (ducks to avoid all the lake lovers), oh and the bedroom configeration is odd with that optional third bedroom in the middle of the living space. PLUS it's discontinued and i know that my next door neighbours, who have one( and have never pitched it in under 40 mins), had a massive problem trying to get a carpet.

Sigh, and I just don't feel it!

 Mine would be perfectly pitched and equipped with everything by several nubile virgins, who apart from pitching tent would supply my every need whilst on site like,

1, bacon butty and pot of tea at 7.30 am

2, bottle of good red at 8 pm

3, food as and when

4, can`t think of anything else

I'll settle with a Khyam Explorer with its Rapidex Quick Errect system with an additional door on the side, plus a SIG, that will do nicely for me!

Plus the option to add a porch in the front if required.

It has been made the the fantastic  Khyam Igloo ,but I would like 8 man version of this simple yet iconic design , as out of all the tents that I have owned this is by far the best ever.
