Recently used the Outwell windbreak and it broke on the first day! One of the spikes in the poles came out as I removed the pole from the ground. I couldn't recover the spike from the ground. Perhaps the spike hadn't been properly pushed into the pole so something to look out for.

There is an art to putting them up! The end poles have 2 guy-lines but the others have one. Therefore put them pointing into the wind and make sure the elastics at the bottom of each pole are pegged down. I find it also helps to have a slight angle in the windbreak and not have it all dead straight.

All in all it's a good windbreak.

I used to have one but I lost all of the spikes on mine ! I thought I was going mad, wondering if it had any to start with ! It worked well but got fed up with guy lines everywhere , I just don't bother using one at all now.

Ours isn't an Outwell but is similar - I'd recommend having two people to put them up, especially if it is windy at the time of putting up: one person holding the pole up and the other sorting the guylines and pegs.

Picked up the outwell one to match the tent today from Yeomans (thanks outdoorlass) will give you my verdict when first used in anger

First thing i have noticed its freed up a load of room in the trailer as the 3 we used to take where spread across ways to fit in. This outwell one is packed so small it takes up no room

Been looking at the hi gear windbreaks on GO site, the site is good for sizes on tents etc but can't understand why they don't put measurements up on the site for items such as these?
