Oh I am really sad

I have taken to having a quick nosey round our local campsite every time I go shopping nearby.

Yesterday I saw the most beautiful little Cabanon tunnel type tent, never seen such perfect canvas in all my days! Absolutely stunning.

There was also a Canvas and Cast bell tent, think it was the 5m, with little porthole windows in the door. I was dying to peer inside!

Does anybody else go noseying round campsites when they aren't actually camping, or is it just me?

confession time!!! me too! went round our local campsite the other night during torrential rain, that I am going to for a girlie weekend in September to check for flooded pitches!!!! Don't want to be in the same boat, so to speak!!!

We go for a nosey at sites where we plan to possibly camp in the future. Have visited a few sites in Cornwall whilst camping down there, and recently spent a whole day checking out around 6 or 7 prospective campsites in mid wales before booking Rhandirmwyn for Bank Holiday.

It does look a bit pervy though pulling into a campsite and immediately inspecting the toilets and showers.

Done the same thing on me hols...Just passing...stop and pull in...Quick inspection and a chat with the owners/staff...If possible.... Just to check if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence so to speak.....

Ooops, I thought at first glance this thread was about a fulfilled romance - "My new hubby!"

I must confess, if I am passing a campsite and I'm not in a hurry I often stop for a look, especially when I'm in the west country.

I don't usually bother looking at the tents, interesting though that can be, but I take in things like the general atmosphere, the tidiness, the layout of the ptiches, whether or not the showers/toilets look clean, and all the other things one values in a campsite.

If there are staff members about I always introduce myself, have a chat and ask for a brochure or a card.

Since discovering ukcampsites I know I can follow up by reading reviews of the sites I have looked at.

moonmummy there is nothing sad about it it's a weekend ritual in our house, affectionately known to us a 'tentstalk' we are very excited about the tent stalk this weekend cos its bank holiday weekends and there will be loads of tents we hope

ive done that as i work all around wales + west i always have a look if i pass a campsite and even write something down in my work diary about the site
