Well what a week!  We got back yesterday from Setthorns.  Thoroughly enjoyed the New Forest and Setthorns was lovely, only two other tents on site, soo peaceful.  Toilet issues were no issue at all - used cat litter in the khazi and found it worked very well!

The weather however, OMG!  It rained and rained and rained some more.  On Wednesday we literaly had a stream complete with many frogs flowing straight through the tent.  Everything is now draped around the garden after having to be scrubbed clean!  Setthorns is beautiful and for a complete horse freak like me there is nothing that comes close to waking up and finding a few ponies wandering around outside your tent, hubby disagrees after one gave him a near heartattack in the night by neighing in his ear  However I have learnt one thing - don't pitch on anything other than grass!   Obviously we were right in the forest which meant the pitches aren't very grassy, more sandy and stony.  Which means when its rains like it did this week the water just flows and all the debris with it.  All into and over my lovely pyramid.  For the first time ever I wished it had a sig.  Had to abondon my tarp ground sheets, it was just sodden and filthy, hubby would'nt let me put it in the car

So I need to rethink a solution for the groundsheet of the pyramid!  Have also decided that WHEN I get my bell tent it will be either a sig or zig!

Still had a great time, not going to let the weather spoil my dream campsite, just wish we had been able to dry things out a bit as it did get pretty tedious being constantly damp for 3 days!

BELL TENT

BELL TENT

The ZIG on the bell tent is great. In meantime, maybe you could fabricate a bathtub type ground sheet for your pyramid. I've been thinking about ways to do this, and you could use, say, damp proof membrane (which is fairly heavy gauge plastic sheet). It can be glued, and I sort of figured that if the corners are folded in a particular way, and then glued, they will help hold the sides up. Also, if you crease it and then heat it enough with a heat gun it holds the shape it's been creased in, so the sides could be creased up (may 4 inches), heated until the plastic almost melts, and then allowed to cool.

Thought my BELL TENT was going to take off about 30 mins ago.  Horrendous wind and rain at the moment!

(Go for the ZIG! Still have the option to raise the walls then if ever we get a decent sunny day)

I put plastic mineral water bottles under edges of ground sheet to allow water to run under it not over.
