Am going to make my own footprint pondliner groundsheet and will need to make some eyelet holes.
What tools do I need? I need eyelets big enough to bash tent pegs through, maybe with one or 2 in the middle 3/4" across to buy me some leeway with inner tent peg placement.
I need it to be economical so £250 eyelet setters are out!
You can buy plastic eyelets that you place either side of the hole and just snap together, I forget the trade name but they are generally available in most camping shops. They seem to work well enough on my boat cover.
------------- Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most.
I'll second what Paul said....use Clingons. You could either tap the peg through the hole, or (what I did) was to attached a short length of cord. Tied a loop in one end that I pegged down, and tied a tautline hitch the other end through the hole in the Clingon so I could tension it up. Very handy, them Clingons are, for groundsheets, tarps, tents...everything
Yeomans sell those 'clip on eyelets', just like clingons but may be cheaper, £4.99 for a 4 pack. Available online or in shop. Mine have been very handy.

If you use brass eyelets, don't forget to double over the edge of the groundsheet. Makes it about four times less likely to pull away when the groundsheet is pegged.
I have just ordered 2 packs of Clingons and bungees as with these you can move them around if it is hard ground, they will give you more choise. with the eyelets you may not be able to unless you add more eyelets

If you have a Yeomans nearby as I do you won't have to pay postage at all!
