I have just baught this http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1428744-10294381?url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4151986/Trail/searchtext%3EFAN+HEATER.htm

its a 2.4kw fan heater with oscillating base. Its realy good and puts out loads of heat, but it is 10 amps. i think it will be ok so long as there is nothing else running at the same time.

it has 2 settings for heat 1.2kw and 2.4, if it is running on the lower setting of 1.2kw will it still use 10 amps ? advice please

At 1.2kw it will use about 5 amps. We always use ours on the lower setting and had no problems.

We only ever use our heater on the 1kw setting and this is more than enough to heat our Khyam Ontario 8 tent to a toasty warm temperature in about 10 minutes.

Fair one, if you want to risk burning your hair and tent down, otherwise use the toilet/shower block.

If i use the heater on full with it oscillating and an 80w energy saving light on would this trip it ?. i only intend to use it on full to heat the tent first then lower the heat setting.

I have found each sites power threshold to be different, depending on how full it is or how old and used it is. try using a timer plug so you set the time and have it on a lower setting if it trips first time.

hi dave

the way to work out your amps is to divied the watts by 240v.

so if your heater is 2400w full on oscillating it will be using 10 amps.

1200w= 5 amps

you could have it on full with the light on but not oscillating.

blubs dont use much so your 80w would be 0.3 of amp.

cheers

yngwie
