I was just wondering if any of you have any advise on how to keep toddlers warm whilst camping?
We have a 19m old & we're thinking if we get away this year we'll pop him in a grobag with a fleece under as well as pj's to keep him warm & have some spare blankets if needed
Yeah I use a gro bag or similar, with pjs underneath, and at this time of year yes fleece too. I also take along extra blankets and he likes to have that to snuggle under too.

Hi!! We have a three year old and she sleeps in her long sleeved PJ,s in a junior sleeping bag from Halfords! She sleeps better in the tent then she does at home in her own bed, belive it or not! Because your son is only 19m old, you are prob doing the right thing by putting him in a growbag rather than a sleeping bag,(wouldn't want him to wriggle down into sleeping bag). As long as you have blankets too he will be fine!!
we have been camping with ours when 6mnths (last summer) and this summer at 18mnths and both times used a grow bag, and a fleecy all in one suit. Underneath the fleecy suit we put a variety of sleep suits, long sleeved vests, or nothing depending what the temperature was. We then had a blanket too for the middle of the night. Biggest problem was rolling off the air bed and onto the cold floor, so we put camping mats out around his bed too.
hope this helps ribble
We used to use a normal sleeping bag with a knot tied in the end to stop them slipping down. My daughter who is now 5 has had the same sleeping bag since she was 10 months old.
If it's cold then extra blankets etc help as do long fleecey PJ's.
I bought the Gelert Jnr pods for my twins they went into them from about 2yrs and i like them as they have room to move and i don't worry about them wriggling around and down in them as they have a large open top, i also put a blanket underneath and pop one on top, almost wrap it round them when we go to bed. I also had some advice from on here that you can use a belt to shorten the length of a sleep bag, ultimately as long as they warm the air around them in the bag that is what keeps them warm so you need to limit the amount of air around them so it doesn't get cold!

Vango Nitestar Convertibles for our 3. They have had them since the youngest was 18 months. Our eldest (5 y/o) is just getting tall enough that we will need to zip on the extension next year. Fantastic bags. They've never complained of cold but we only camp May to September.
We cover the floor of the pod with foam mats so where ever they roll to they are always sleeping on insulation.
Yes, I know it is incredibly expensive for a hot water bottle, but it is kind of a soft toy as well, and I couldn't resist (I actually got 'Rob the racoon' for myself as well!)
Obviously I won't make it as hot for her as I would for us, but it should help keep the chill off when we go away this weekend.
Also investing in mattress toppers and may take our left over laminate underlay (as mentioned in another post) as well.
I was physically shaking at 3am one morning in July as it was so cold. Not taking any chances this time!!
For those of you whose little ones roll off the airbed....I got some fantastic advice off here - the Kampa Eazy Jnr airbed. We had D on that, in a fleecy all in one, inside a Vango Nitestar Midi with the bottom blocked off. Cozy warm all night, and no rolling off.

We bought a Ready Bed for our 3 yr old, he loves it - it's an air bed and duvet all in one, we've only used it once so far in August, we added a fleece blanket on top (yes, it was chilly, even in Devon in August!)
