We used to use a normal sleeping bag with a knot tied in the end to stop them slipping down. My daughter who is now 5 has had the same sleeping bag since she was 10 months old.

If it's cold then extra blankets etc help as do long fleecey PJ's.

I bought the Gelert Jnr pods for my twins they went into them from about 2yrs and i like them as they have room to move and i don't worry about them wriggling around and down in them as they have a large open top, i also put a blanket underneath and pop one on top, almost wrap it round them when we go to bed. I also had some advice from on here that you can use a belt to shorten the length of a sleep bag, ultimately as long as they warm the air around them in the  bag that is what keeps them warm so you need to limit the amount of air around them so it doesn't get cold!

Vango Nitestar Convertibles for our 3. They have had them since the youngest was 18 months. Our eldest (5 y/o) is just getting tall enough that we will need to zip on the extension next year. Fantastic bags. They've never complained of cold but we only camp May to September.

We cover the floor of the pod with foam mats so where ever they roll to they are always sleeping on insulation.
