I knew it, I knew I' be convinced by you fine folk on here!  Plus I have just had a bloomin awful day at work, and if nothing else thats made me look forward to going even more.

I can't possibly reply to individual posts (I'd be here all week, then I'd not go away at all...) but many many thanks, and some great ideas and suggestions.  I need to invest in some decent wellies and a new waterptroof jacket I think, but my OH and little un are already well prepared with those.  The hot water bottles should still be with the rest of the camping gear (really should check it all!) and we've got the fleecy blankets waiting patiently...

Can't wait now.  And I'll post some piccies when we get back :)

Cheers again, Rob

Good one Rob - apart from high winds, there is no other kinds of weather problem that you can't tackle in camping. Having the right frame of mind is what makes a successful holiday. We had ten fun packed days in Dorset in June 2006 at the height of the rain and floods; we had a 50 pitch campsite to share with just one other tent, and we went out somewhere every day, with warm and waterproof layers to hand.

I like Billy Connolly's saying that there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes. One of the best purchases I ever made for camping was to get some thermal undies. Not very elegant but they are great under your outdoor clothes and are good as PJs too. In fact, there used to be a very good undies stall on Chesterfield Market that sold them (I am in your neck of the woods) so you could probably kit yourselves out quite cheaply.

Go forth and enjoy yourselves!
