Having grown up in west wales i have to agree with earlier poster that Pembrokeshire esp St Davids area is beautiful, also love Cornwall and north Devon. I don't like things too commercialised and prefer natural beauty!

Scotland is gorgeous but only ever stayed in a cottage by a rural loch

We are blessed in this country with wonderfull places. The Lakes..goes without saying. Malham Cove and Gordale Scar. Camping up in North Yorkshire near Ripon and visiting Fountains Abbey and a personal favourite of mine is the view from the top of Brimham Rocks looking back on the strangest landscape.

Cornwall for me ,especially the St Ives Bay  area (lovely and rugged one side ,St Ives on the other .Carbis Bay inbetween ),possibly because of happy memories of childhood holidays and places I've taken my children to. I havent been this year( or last) due to trying other places which have been lovely but I get withdrawal symptoms and think ..".but its not Cornwall.".......is this common amongst campers.?..determined to get there next year!

I know exactly what you mean Outdoorgirl. Even on the most beautiful coastline I find myself thinking '... but it's not Cornwall...'

I first went to Cornwall as a teenager in the early 1960s and, apart from a few years in the 1970s/80s, I've been at least once a year ever since. In fact, since the mid-1990s I've usually been several times every year (I think the most is seven times in one year).

It's a magical place, a mythical ancient landscape redolent of the past, its people proudly independent and its culture steeped in tradition. If you allow Cornwall to get under your skin it becomes part of you.

that last sentence sums it up most eloquently ..........better get my booking in for Churchtown Farm next year.

Cornwall is only about 7 miles wide at this point -you can be on the North coast then the other coast ,say at Marazion ,in no time(even the weather can be different!)

The Isle of Wight for family holidays.  Norfolk when we had a boat, and Oxford when we don't want to travel too far and want to go fishing!
