I agree that I won't hit the target by 1 September, Bill. Nonetheless, I will keep travelling and see how many counties I visit in the next month or two. After that, it will be a case of seeing how long it takes to complete them all - I reckon that should be before the end of 2011 because I have more free time in the autumn.

Yes, Liz, I agree. I can't ignore Bristol - it is a long-established county (despite all that post-1974 'Avon' nonsense). But it is very small so offers fewer opportunities to camp. On the other hand it's only two hours drive and it's on the way to Cornwall (which I visit often).
You may not make it by Sept 1 Skip but you've given it a very good shot. Are you going to try again next year or just see how long it does take. Best of luck whatever you decide
Bedfordshire has a great campsite, Top End Farm at Little Staughton, only £10 a night without hookup, and £12.75 with electric, great shop with everything you might need, and very spacious.
We go regularly with the kids and they love it too.
