We finally bought a 5 day cool box this year, after deliberating for a while, and I can honestly say it was wonderful. I cooked and froze meals before we went and packed the ice box with frozen meals, blue ice blocks and frozen milk and water to fill the gaps, then bunged the fridge stuff on the top. The stuff at the bottom was still frozen after 5 days, and no topping up with ice.
Towards the end of our 2 weeks away we did top up with ice, but it made everything wet - which personally I hated as the cheese would slip down into the icy water.
We bought an icy tec long (56L I think) as we worked out it would also do as a seat for the kids. However the kids didn't like sitting on it at the table compared with comfy camping seats (even thought the ice box was more like sitting on a proper table and it was easier for them and we had far less spilt food!).
hope this helps

My solution to the cheese slippage into cold water problem: sealable food containers. Works a treat.
And I soooooooooooooooo want a pink IceyTek (our Coleman Extreme is great but a bit bulky).

We've got an Icey Tek - they are things of beauty!
There's thread somewhere with some pictures...but I think the discussion morphed out of something else so it isn't called anything obvious....I'll have look!
I`m purchasing an Icey tek.....what size do you have Piglet and will it suit a family of 4 do you think?

Jo, ours is the 25l model in bright red! Our usage is a bit different as we use the 3 way fridge for the majority of our food and the box is only for the dogs raw food or for overflow food plus we tend to do four or five day trips without shopping.
BUT having said that, my friend has been working her way through my coolbox collection this summer to work out what to buy. She doesn't want to take anything as big as a 3 way fridge and she mainly shops daily as she has three boys so they tend to be out and about. She's tried our 40litre Igloo Marine box and the 25l Icey Tek and she's pretty much decided that she's going to buy the 25l Icey Tek for the five of them. She doesn't want to take anything bigger than that and as they tend to shop daily then it's big enough.
