I usually find the simplest things work best. The damp marigold gloves sound like a good idea. My version for when we have son's doggy at the static is to get a damp Jaycloth and sweep it around the carpet in little circles. It picks up the hair quite well. If you don't mind spending £3 on a big roll of parcel tape, you can wrap that backwards over your hand a few times and dab up the hair. It would probably last a few camps.
There's also the little roller you can buy to get fluff off your clothes. It's sticky rubber, and you roll it across the carpet and then wash the hair off in a bowl of water.
All more time-consuming than a vacuum cleaner, though you'd probably find it difficult to get a small or re-chargable vacuum that picks up dog hair.
We usually just put up with it same as we do at home Spaniel hair is just a part of life now, would seem strange without it ! Seriously up till now we've just swept with ordinary dust pan & brush but there's a few good tips here, liking the sound of the rubber ones, also for the rugs in the house.

I don't take the carpet when taking the dog. I use picnic blankets. I can remove them easily and throw in washer or bin as I only use the cheap ones. I can then sweep the tent and wipe over with wipes.
I'm another Furminator fan...and lots of exercise for Dog (ideally on a windy day!). Also, having experimented with various brushes and carpet-rakes, I find a Michael Jackson style moonwalk in rubber soled shoes is best for the job...
I agree with that Green Dave- I find the best thing for getting rid of the dog hair is a pair of crocs! Just rub along with your feet and the hair comes up easily. Works on all carpets and rugs!
