Hi all,

Wondered if anyone could advise me on the best way to mend a small hole in my Vango Columbia 600 SIG  , I tried to patch it with the repair kit and some rubber glue, but this didn't stick  , ignorant as to best type of glue to use as don't want to melt a bigger hole!!!    Help!

Thanks

Mel xx

Tenacious tape.

Cut a circle bigger than the hole and stick it in place.

Then do the same on the other side of the hole.

Job done :)

Not sure on the 'correct' thing to use, but what about a puncture repair 'scab' or maybe some insulation tape ? If it was just a small hole I think that's what I would use, but chances are there is a 'correct' solution out there!

I'll second the Tenacious Tape. I did exactly the same thing with the small hole in my sig.

Tenacious tape on both sides, I used it on my groundsheet 4 years ago and the repair is almost invisible.

If you have a spare bit of groundsheet (some tents come with repair patches), cut a piece to cover the hole both sides then stick it with tenacious tape.

I discovered a pinprick hole in the groundsheet underneath my bedroom pod and stuck it with the only thing available at the time...a waterproof elastoplast. As far as I know it is still there...keep forgetting to check

Hi
I am/was a great fan of Tenacious tape but there is a new kid on the block that blows even Tenacious tape out of the water... This new ish product to the UK is called Tear-Aid. Its just like Tenacious tape but it stretches but it also goes back to its original shape etc.. This is not an advert for us as we do not stock this product as yet, its just I have used some and it amazing on so many fabrics.

We saw that being demonstrated last year in a camping store here. It looked fab but the price tag was less impressive :)

Spinnaker tape does the job better and is available for a lot less than Tennacious tape.

Hi Angie
When new stocks of Tenacious tape start coming through in 2011 the price will be about £8 - £10 for a bit 50cm x 7.5cm... The Tear-Aid will be a similar price for a mixed box of patches..There will be less overall coverage than the Tenacious tape but it is amazing stuff. I know Tenacious tape lasts along time on a repair but the fact Tear-Aid stretches and then reforms it should suit tent repairs better.

Good news that tear aid will be the same price as tenacious tape !

I cant remember exactly what the price was but I think it was something around €20 !!!!

So I stuck to tenacious tape but if prices are similar/the same then I would give the tear aid a go due to its flexibility .
