Are we mad to camp at the end of October? We started camping this summer and love it. Would we be the only ones camping at October Half Term? I have a vision of snug warm caravaners and us shivering in a tent - what do you think?
we have camped every october half term for the last ten years and are going away for 10 days this year.As long as you are well prepared it is only like going at easter or the like
No, you won't be the only ones! There's another thread on here with some members concerned about sites being FULL.
Just check (on Camp Site Search) that your chosen site is open and that there is likely to be availability (many have availability calendars), and take plenty of insulation!
Hi and welcome to U.K.C.S end of october look here
these guys are going into november a group of us are going away half term and if you do a search you will see some peeps are camping Christmas and new year in tents. E.H.U would be good but you could always look for sites with open fires the season never ends
Although I'm starting to wonder about my own sanity!
I'm camping in the october half term, with my three daughters age 12,10, and 2. so only really have my !2 year old to help me pitch the tent, a montana 6. Praying for no wind and no rain (in october!)
so if anyone is camping at Orchards on monday 25th! feel free to come over and help
We're going away with the Hampshire DA (our 1st time) the 1st weekend of halfterm. The place the rally is being held at is such a unique experience that we couldn't let it pass.
I've just come online to ask the exact same thing!
We're going away with friends! Any tips on staying warm overnight?? We usually use airbeds but I'm worried they will be cold? Any tips? Can't afford to pay out for loads of new equipment! Especially as there are 7 of us!

third year camping
May - Dunn Street Farm
July into August - Royal Bath and West Showground, Somerset
Tbh I think you will be ok as long as you wrap up warm and take plenty of blankets I would certainly have a crack at it in a trailer tent. I went away in a tourer last year and it wasn't bad at all!
We have just packed our trailer tent away for the winter so we are hiring a static for the half term week this year.
Planning to go camping in scotland in late april so I think i'll need me thermals for that one!

Just got back from camping near Hereford.
Thanks to EHU, a fan heater and a well-insulated bed, had a fantastic time.
(Did use the bikes to cycle to the loo block in the rain, though.)
we have just got back from a camping trip there was me husband and 5 kids 9,7,6,3 years and 7 months and we had a great time can not wait untill next year
We have just come back from a 4 night break and whenever we go camping we go basic. This is the only time that we take our duvets with us. We always take plenty of layers to ensure we keep warm.
This is our second year camping at half term and we love it as you tend to get most of the camping field to yourself especially as we tend to go to the holiday parks becuase if it is really really cold we can warm up in the club.
Perhaps I will try the trailer tent next year as it was so cold in the static last week, ended up blocking the vents with all sorts to stop the cold from coming in!
