I much prefer not to brave storms Val but the weather in this country is so unpredictable, particularly up in the hills, that you really can't do much about it other than ensuring you're well equipped and snuggling down in your sleeping bag until it goes away.

Your bell tents would be fine in a storm but I'm not sure I'd like to carry them on my back....

Take care

I'm quite liking the terra nova laser space 2...bit more meaty than the golite but still loads of room  (looked at ther super quasar as well as it was 4 season)

Aaahhhhh - so that's why you were finding recruits for your backpacking jaunt - it's just an excuse to buy another tent!

As Rick said, it would be a bit daunting carrying one of the bells or the Barbados!

Go on, you know you want to......and what great justification for a new tent

Err no..I'm just window shopping, honest!

Have quite a healthy tent fund at the moment after selling the montreal and bear lake, so got itchy pockets.  Must restrain myself!

(But just think if I go backpacking, all the lovely new camping stuff I would need to start googling..!)

There are a few tents on the horizon atm, but nothing decided yet...

Good job you've got a healthy camping fund Val, 'cos light weight and comfortable, COSTS.

Might be worth turning the world on its ear and sourcing good light kit at a reasonable price just to see if its possible. You do seem to be a top researcher

Quite happy to go cheap and cheerful for most of the stuff but would like a decent tent

Learn your lesson after buying rubbish for years, then end up replacing it all afterwards!

Already have an old small camping screw type stove, pan set, Mag light, LED hanging light, SIM (free with subscription to camping magazine), 4 season mummy sleeping bag (free prize in camping mag for bell tent pic) so rest of the outlay will be low

Couple of sporks and I'm done!

Currently have

Outwell Florida 6 plus awning for stays of 4 nights or more with hubby and both kids

Kampa Frinton 4 for weekends with hubby and kids

Outwell Oregon 3 for weekend without kids when we will be spending most of the time cycling or in the pub

Wynnster leisure shelter - extra space / utility tent when using the frinton.  Also used as a painting tent when hubby was glossing all of our internal doors at home.  Now very paint splattered and shabby looking.

Have given away over the winter

A 4 man eurohike tunnel to my sister and her boyfriend for festival camping

A wynnster satelite 12 (monster 3 dome thing) to another family from school as it doesn't fit on c&cc pitches and the Florida is much nicer.

We have collected along the way (although I think it can become a bit of an obsession to get a tent that will suit all conditions - mostly due to the awful weather we get most of the time).....

- Cabanon Biscaya 440 (great tent for longer holidays - withstands very stormy conditions).
- Cabanon Andorra - Hmm this was one of my ebay buys - we have never got around to trying it out.
- Cabanon Hawaii- we bought this for weekend stays, but we never have the time to do this.
- Cabanon Barbados - We love this tent - Dave has put this one up by himself its that easy!
- Outwell Nevada M - Very quick and easy to put up and has plenty of room, although not as cosy as the Biscaya & Barbados tents
- Vango Force Ten Mark 4 Std - It will be it's 30th birthday next year.

Obviously we are lightweights in this department with only 2 tents on the go

Halfords Family Tent - used once, decided that we enjoyed camping so much that we ditched this one and brought a real tent;

Kyham Ontario 8 - Great for a week+ stays - roomy enough to make one of the bedrooms a bathroom

Coleman Coastline 4 - Brill for the long weekends but starts to get a bit claustrophobic for longer periods - our Westie can take up a lot of 'tripping' space inside a tent of these proportions

This is my update.

Norfolk Lake. I will NEVER sell this tent.

Wynnster Hawk 8 - Our new weekender tent - good size, fast to pitch and has a built in porch - only practice pitched it so far though.

Sunncamp frame tent (3 room). Dont have a clue what it is but it may be a palace or a chateau.

Selling

Gelert Linea 6 Polycotton - advertised locally
Smaller domes - being advertised around festival time.

Fed up with having so many tents - i think I may have seen the light!!

Just the two of us and here's our list so far which isn't much compared to some of you on here so I feel rather embarrassed!

5m Bell tent - this will be our main tent for all our trips now on.

Obelink tarp - to go with the bell

Base Seconds - this will be used as our utility tent

Vango 500/Ventura - our first tent. Six years old now and still looks in brand new condition. Absolutely love this tent but we have no use for it now we have the canvas bell. I can't bring myself to part with it though so have decided to lend it out to family and friends who all of a sudden are getting into our camping hobby and want to join us on some trips!
