Hi, I have finally persuaded DH to agree to camping and we have just bought an Outwell Idaho XL (Ebay is great!). I know it is a big tent but can anyone tell me what pitch size I would need when booking a site?

Thanks

If it helps check here it will give you the tent / layout details. Pitch sizes differ so much - really depends what else you expect e.g. Electric, privacy, toilets, showers etc.. etc..

If you want peace and space the use a Caravan and Camping Club certificated site based on a farm with th facilities to suit your needs

Hope this helps

Andy

According to Outwell, the current model is 750cm x 615cm (excluding guylines). This is the size you should quote when making a booking enquiry. It's all down to the individual site's size policy then.

It would be too large for Camping and Caravanning Club standard pitch, so would cost you an additional £7 - £10 per night (depending on site and season) for a Jumbo pitch, if available.

Congratulations

You won't regret it!  The Idaho Xl is a fantastic tent, everytime we go away in ours people can't help but come and have a look at the size inside!  We have never had a problem with a pitch, we have explained beforehand that it is an 8 berth tent, given them the name and never had to ask for a pitch by size.  Wether that is because we have EHU and the pitches tend to be bigger to allow for vans etc I don't know.

Had been looking on Ebay to see how they are selling - some good bargains have been snapped up!!  Did you get the extension as well - very handy.  Since the last time we went away, I have purchased the kids room, can't wait to see it up.  Think we have everything now, footprint, carpet, extension, kids room, - the OH says I can't have anything else (little does he know that I am awaiting the delivery of 2 carpets for the bedroom areas!!!)
