I have an Outwell hartford S. Yes there used to be one that size, I love it, it's a perfect size for me and my 3 kiddies. It's cozy but has loads of space and great head height. Bought it years ago but its in perfect nick and has never leaked or got mouldy and it's been out in some storms. Anyone else got an old tent their still really happy with? Oh and just bought the outwell sliding canopy for 50 quid new, gives us a little more space!
hi car. how big is the tent. amount of people that is. i am fairly new to camping after a gap of 40 years. just the odd nighthere and there with friends.but now back into it full time
I recently sold my Outwell Hartford s on this site's sale page. It was the warmest tent I have owned, but the hardest to put up alone. also the shape of the 2 bedrooms the very slanted outside wall meant that only very low beds could be used. I would only fit one adult or 2 children in each bedroom. Did have a nice large living area.
I find the best for me have been Sunncamp Elain (only 2 birth) but with sig and the Lakeside 4 birth but this does not have a sig.
I also returned to camping after a break of 30 years. The difference in camping now is wow. but before I didn't drive so it all had to be carried on my back. Now I drive and can take loads of stuff. yeahhh
we have a sunncamp kansas 8 (pics of it in my profile) and although its not an oldie (only bought it last year) I think its fantastic! We loved it from the minute we saw it in the shop!
Just been and bought the canopy for it - cant wait to go and test it out
We did have an old Dutch Pyramid tent estimated at over 30 years old, Still watertight but a litle grubby, Passed it on to someone else who i believe are still using it.
i have a old faithful hartford xl its never let us down we tend to like the view when camping on cliff tops and well our old faithful has stood up to some pretty bad weather conditions there has been a couple of times where we have woken to find the tent site looking like a disaster movie but our old faithful has stood strong, its so roomy and warm. the only problem is i despratley want a canopy for it and belive me they are almost impossible to get hold of but i will keep looking, you never know i may drop lucky one day.BIG THUMBS UP TO THE OLD OUTWELL HARTFORDS
yes, big thumbs up to the old style outwell hartords. I was also looking for a canopy hence why i bought the sliding canopy, hoping it will do a similar job. looks complicated to put up though.
My wynnster satellite 12, bought in about 2002ish. Been out in some seriously high winds and has never let me down. We used it late last year in Derbyshire for a weekend, still nearly like new. Love my new vango but I'll still use the wynnster from time to time, especially when high winds are forecast.
The only downside for me are the 30 guy ropes that need pegging out for it, but I suppose thats one of the reasons it's so good in the wind-that and the shape.
I still used the Gelert Purple and green 3 man tent i have, got it about 14 years ago, and can pitch in no time at all, least i know it doesn't leak unlike other tents i have had
We bought a Sunncamp Maison 6 In 1992 . It's a canvas frame tent . Very heavy cotton material with lots of poles . But when Its up there Is lots of room for everyone
We used It as a family tent for all our holidays . It used to take us an hour to erect and hour and half to get gear In and all sorted out .
Its now retired In the loft .................... And In 2007 we bought a Outwell Oregon twin for weekends away and sometimes for a weeks holiday . Its quite easy to put up . And has plenty of room for 4 people .
Only downside . No bathtub ground sheet. And I still dont think the ring and pin is all that great .
However In saying that It has proved Itself In all weather .
And I rate It . Also I have seen the Hartford on tent displays and on sites . They look a super family tent . Outwell certainly know how to make superior tent's
