We stayed in a Pod in September at Townsends in Pembridge, Herefordshire last September.
We were visiting my mother in law who was in a Hospice so it seemed easier not to have to take much.
It was certainly cosy and warm, though smaller than our tent. For people who want to travel light or who want to get away in winter but don't feel brave enough to camp out in a tent they are ideal. Though I have to admit I did miss my beautiful tent.

Second, I took a keek in one of the four pods at Bellingham CCC site - not overly impressed - dark. Plus they are so close together - you couldn't sit outside and have a private conversation. Mind you, I'm probably prejudiced as I do not like that site and would rather stay down the road at Demesne, much friendlier and cheaper, even for a CCC member.
galdeb69 - watch it with the dog - some don't allow them inside. My view is that a dog is a member of the family.

I've got a pod booked for Easter at Haworth and by a complete fluke I've also booked 4 days at Pembridge near Leominster. I filled out a form on the Haworth web-site and a few minutes later got an email which seemed to me to be a reply supplying a tel.no. to ring, which I did. A few minutes later I got a call from the Haworth site asking me for details of my proposed stay. I told them I'd just booked via the number they emailed me just a few minutes before. The chap didn't know what I was talking about. What had happened is that the Pembridge site sent me an email shot out of the blue drumming up business. I phoned back to Pembridge explaning what had happened asking to cancel the booking. They said of course they would cancel but I wouldn't be getting my cash back. So now I'm spending four days at Pembridge in August whether I want to or not.Map Amundi here I come.
We used a pod in Cornwall the other year as my husband had a meeting down there on a Friday morning. We decided to make a family weekend of it and didn't want to spend the time setting up the tent, so we managed to book a pod at the last minute. I agree with all the comments from previous posts about them being dark, small and more expensive than pitch fees but there are advantages too. After a four hour journey to the site all we had to do was unlock the pod and throw our bedding and bags in and lock it - no need to worry about anything getting stolen.
The weather was fantastic, so within minutes, the kids were in the swimming pool. Our site let us set up our cooking tent so we had somewhere to cook, store stuff and also our dogs slept in there too. We spent two nights in Cornwall but managed to go places and do lots of things we normally wouldn't have time to do in a weekend. Before leaving the site we still managed a leisurely breakfast and a swim before chucking the sleeping bags and cooking tent in the back of the car and driving off.
It normally takes us about 1.5 hours to fully set up and the same to pack away when taking the tent, so using the pod gave us nearly half a day more to enjoy a precious, sunny, family weekend and no one can put a price on that!
