Hi im fairly new to camping and was just wondering what everybody does with regards to cooking inside and arround their tents, I have a montanna 6 and last time we went i cooked outside as i was worried about the fire risk but for example if its raining not the best idea , any suggestions?? Thanks rich
Hi Rich.
We use a Utility tent (gallery) for cooking duties, c/w fire bucket, fire extinguisher and fire blanket, just in case the worse should happen.
thas what i had in mind , see im thinking about buying an awning for our tent and need to justify the need for getting one and using it to cook in is a good idea thanks
Hi rich.
We got the awning for our tent, or Sun-Canopy as Cabanon call it, great for keeping the rays of, whilst you have your lunch etc, also doubles as a rain protector, although we have never had any of that whilst camping in Southern France during July. and we have been going there since 1962!.
We have a Montana 6 and after the first trip when we cooked in the tent, we recognised the potential problem (although nothing went wrong) so we bought the extension and set up cooking on one side and table plus seating on the other. We have found it a great addition to our set up. We have a utility tent but find that the Monty takes up quite a lot of any pitch so not much space left once we've parked the car as well.
we use a utility tent to cook in as well and it is a great addition............ we sold our monty a the end of last year with the extension we went to canvas tents but it was a fantastic tent with the extension .........
------------- A tent is like a newborn born baby..... to some they all look the same..... but if its yours it's beautiful.

hi Francais thanks for your feedback i appreciate it , is it easy to go camping in france, lots of people have made it sound very appealing and the bonus of nice weather is tempting
I'd go with the extension idea if I were you. I have seen the Monty 6 set up in the way you have described (Cliff n Pat's rig) and it looked great. Plenty of room for the kitchen area.
We use a small utility tent with either of our tents. Having said that, I personally would rather get wet than risk burning my tent down, or worse?
