O.M.G.
I got a bit carried away last week, was intending to buy the Kampa frinton 5.
But after seeing the Filey 6 on the peak-outdoors website (the one with slight cosmetic damage - £359) I bought it!!
It arrived yesterday and we are going to attempt to put it up today.
The instructions state that you should put all poles in, lift them all to the front and then walk them backwards and then peg out.
Are there any other filey 6 owners out there, and is this the best way to put it up.

Cheers
Joanne.

With the nevada m we put poles in and walk from the back to the front. Can you get a demonstration of the filey 6 on you tube. I watched a couple for our a tent and made notes to pull out when pitching.

Have looked on you tube, but there is nothing. From the back to the front seems more sensible as you are able to match it up to the footprint. Thank you.

Look on you tube how yeomans put up a Montana 6 as these tents are very similar in design.

Hi Dizzygirl

We pitched our Filey 6 (also from Peak Outdoors- cosmetic damage is non-existent!) for the first time a few weeks ago. If you do a search for it on this site you will find some alternatives to the way the instructions tell you to erect it. We put the middle pole up first, then the ones either side & worked our way outwards towards the front & rear. This is apparently easier as you don't have to manage the weight of lifting all the poles upright at once.

We were really pleased with how our pitch went for a first attempt & can't wait to do it for real in a few weeks on a campsite :-) Hoping we might actually look slightly like we know what we're doing now, rather than complete novices! Just need to work on getting it all taut & the wrinkles pulled out! And we were dead chuffed with the tent once it was up.

HTH

Hi Sam,
Thank you.
Have just put it up using their method, but going from back to front, went up quite well, but would imagine if there was a breeze it might be a bit trickier.
I think we will try your way next. Did you connect the poles together before inserting them, or did you put them together as you were feeding them through?
Did you take the bedroom pods out before packing away?
The cosmetic damage is just some colour run, it is over about half of the light blue fabric, but you have to look hard to see it.
Lovely tent.

Yes, we connected all the poles before inserting them & no, we didn't remove the bedroom pods, we left them in - one less thing to do when we pitch it on site!

We love the tent. I want to get the carpet for it but have been looking since January and the only places that seem to have them in stock are charging so much for it. I have seen it for about £70 online but those places haven't got any stock, I'm hoping that's going to change soon :-)
