I just want to say that I would have reservations about using a pram overnight. I've seen a story in the last six months about a couple in a B & B that didn't have a cot available. Their baby slept in pram, for some reason pram tipped up in night and baby suffocated. Horrific! This has stayed with me because my youngest is only two and have at times struggled with space, equipment etc.

I would advise that you invest in a travel cot - not the big bulky type but the 'pop up' ones.

I think if you have a removeable carry cot from the pram then all should be well though you can also get camping cots for little ones, much smaller than traditional travel cots and do the baby for a couple of years or they do even cheaper ones that do when the baby is little and are very light. here

Hi my not so little one was 8mths old when he did his 1st trip .  Mine was born 1lb 6oz at 25 weeks  (and  we had him at home , on oxygen til then. He came off the oxygen on  the Thursday and we were under canvas in a field surrounded by sheep Saturday night .)

Anyway - memories where was I oh yes

My secret weapon was I  purchased a inflatable dinghy the kind you find in the beach shops .  This was a god send it was his feeding table and play pen , I did take his travel cot and sleeping bag which I tied the end with a belt to prevent him slipping down .  Took a folding bucket , complete with miltons to do all the sterilising in ! So much fun .

If you are breastfeeding and have it well established so you are not needing to express then you can do without all the clobber, all you need are your boobs, a cloth sling, few nappies and off you go :-) Sterilizing bottles in a tent is a pain (have memories of running them under a cold tap in a field at Shambala trying to get them clean- not fun) but not bad if you go with good facilities where you can wash up with hot water in clean sinks and hook up to take a sterilizer or you can hang those cold sterilizing bags.

I would not cosleep unless you do it at home and are tuned into it. I think your pram should be OK if it is a proper old fashioned pram top and you can put a moses matress in. We used our friends bugaboo top for sleeping in and it is not much different to a moses basket. You can also then rock them in it or push them about for a walk when they wake. When the babe gets bigger I would recommend a square travel cot (rather than the pop up tent type) as it makes a good playpen during the day, while you put the tent up, and they are off the ground. The phil n teds is a good compromise and has a sun blackout shade which is great for naps under a tree when it is hot in the tent but they are still on the ground.

I think the only tricky thing at that age is temperature at night. I find it hard to get the balance between wrapping them up if it is cold outside at night (which it is at the moment) and them not overheating, so I personally would not go whilst it is still cold at night but friends of ours did who are a bit more relaxed about these things and had a great time :-)  

we just took our 1 year old he is just a year old and we brought a NOMAD baby bed it can be used as a bed and play pen so did both in one then it folds in to a tiny bag about the size of a roll mat rolled up see pics below for it set up in our tent
