The site looks absolutely idyllic - gutted that they only take 12yrs and over...........my 8 and 10 year olds would love it, especially my son as he loves to fish

That looks lovely, always on the lookout for sites where hubby can fish, does anyone know if the fishing is any good?
I notice they only take children over 12, I wonder if they will accept a well behaved 10 year as well - might have to ask.
I think you have been lucky with the weather, we are going at Easter and I am not expecting too much sun. Its pouring down here at the moment!
My husband and son liked it, and caught some good fish. They also liked the fact that I was able to walk across with hot bacon butties and coffee!
Mmm, we find this with quite a few sites with fishing Tracey. A lot of them only accept adults. You can understand why they dont want screaming children charging around the fishing lakes but its a shame for those who have sensible well behaved kids who enjoy fishing with their Dad.
I would pretend my 10 year old is 12 if he wasnt so small. In fact looking at my 12 year old they probably wouldnt think he is old enough either!
Oh well, maybe some time we might be able to go there without the kids.
The photos are fantastic and the site looks like heaven, saved to my virtual brochure and would be well worth the 5+ hours journey for us.
We're coming down to York in July for nearly 10 days and have already booked our site, but from what I've heard from friends/family, York and the surrounding area is brilliant so I think this may be our first of many visits to the area.

My first reaction is 'if you don't take kids then you're not my kind of site anyway', but I suppose that as it's mainly a fishing concern, then it's fair enough that they want to keep an air of peace and quiet - we have been to a few that except kids of any age, so it's a shame they don't, as it looks so lovely. It may definately be one for a solo camp though!
zenobia. ring the camp and tell them you only have the one child. and well behaved. most will accept one child. its usualy if you have two or three. that they get a bit uptight.
Looks lovely and not too far away. Would be a great place to take the camera. Says small dog £2 per night extra - don't think my 2 labs would be considered small :-(
After reading on the forum about Conifer Lake and not visiting for a few years now we went to have a look on Sat.....well Oh my god the place has changed and for the better!!!........... The site is spotless and a great setting....the lake has been cleared making it a much better as before it was wilderness. I could not believe the place was empty and the weather was great too...I presume this is down to it being a newish site...... Prefect setting if it was a little further away from me............ we will be fishing again though
