If possible, get the tent pitched to air it out and then hose it down to check for leaks or seams that may need attention. Also a good opportunity to check for loose stitching or if any guys need replacing.

If the tent has been stored correctly and was packed away dry then I see no reason  why it should have degraded or suffered in any way.

Sorry, I can't hlp with advice about carpet and footprint.

I agree yet again with Helen if its been properly stored it may just need airing if the fabric feels stiff especially on the roof then its starting to deteriorate. I would take some seam sealer and Fabsil spray with you just in case

My hartford s 2006 was the same, stuck away until little one turned 3. You know they are fantastic tents, mine needed nothing done, just aired like it said above, I used it for 3 trips last year and am using it on Thursday to go up to scone, never been a bother.

I have the Hartford Plus AKA older version L. I bought it new last year from JRLeisure in Wigan - it's a fabulous tent - double skin and terrific fabric! I made my own footprint by erecting it on a rectangular groundsheet and cutting around the shape. You need to cut it about 6 inches (15cm) bigger all around and then you fold it in, cutting where necessary - I held my hems down with the Gelert eyelets that you can buy from any camp shop - hey presto - footprint. (bought it from B&Q)For the carpet, I bought a Vango Orchy 600 carpet and chopped it up - I managed to use the bits left over to complete the hexagonal shape of the hartford - result, a neat carpet for £39.95 (From Yeomans Outdoors) I think you could also maybe track down a Vango Diablo 400 or 600 carpet - failing that maybe buy the new Hartford L carpet and chop it down. You would need to edge it with bias binding too. It really is not too difficult if you have a sewing machine. Get in touch if you need any help with this!
