Working in conjuction with a travel retailer - they have said that passenger numbers are down to last year - but are these people all really going camping ? I think not. Some people would never in a million years go camping (I know such a person) and if they haven't got £2000 to go abroad then its will be more than that to buy all the equipment and still have money left to book a site and to 'live' on. Do the sums - family of 4 needs 6-8 birth tent that can be anything upto and over £800, then £200 for cooker/sleeping bags/chairs etc, its costing me £500 for 2 weeks in Devon for 4 people this year - that only leaves £500 for food and entertainment (£36 per day for a family of 4 is not enough) !!!
