ever since I had a pleasant sleep on a cold night in an inner tent with a carpet tent down (it made it so nice and cosy) I have been trying to find a tent carpet to use in the sleeping pod of our Eldorado without success - anyone come across a 2.8m x 2.0m carpet anywhere ?

We have a "proper" carpet for the Monty living area but in the bedroom pods we just use picnic blankets! Much cheaper, washable and as they don't get the wear they would in the main part of the tent they are fine.

I've never had a carpet in an inner tent, I do however place a picnic rug underneath our airbed which does work as I forgot to take the rug the first camp of the season last year and I was freezing all night long.  After that I make sure it's never forgotten, so maybe that could be something that you could try

thanks folks

tried the picnic blanket approach but it/they move around, if I knew where to buy some decent weight and BIG picnic blankets it would be a good alternative I agree but 280 x 200cm is pretty big area

another reason I am keen to get full sized is we have young kids who roll out of bed at night and the carpet/blanket might help us all sleep a little better

done some digging and it turns out some tent carpets, eg Coleman claim to have an insulation layer whereas others like Gelert don't (this is based on their websites) but I am wondering if there really is a big difference in the different makes of tent carpet ?

I have just brought a picnic blanket from tesco 200x150cm £15..not quite the size your after..might be worth a look tho'

Coleman do a generic carpet 230 x 230 which I have for my Quechua 4.2 but I can't say I've noticed any difference between that and the Vango carpets I have. The Tigris 600 should be 280 x 240.

We have a Coleman carpet which doesnt fit our bedroom exactly, there is a gap around the edge, but it does the job and definitely makes it more cosy.

We paid around £30 for it a couple of years ago, well worth the money.

Karsten do a carpet to fit the footprint of their sleeping extensions, which are 2.10m x 2.90m – so I’d imagine the carpet measurements would be a close fit to what you’re looking for.

 

We have three of these carpets in our tent, so obviously like them alot. They fold up a bit bigger than the Outwell ones, but they’re excellent quality and nice and warm to sleep on – Link here.

What about this outwell one: argos it's a bit bigger than you need (280cm x 260cm), but you may be able to trim it or fold one end under?

well I found out an Outwell Oakland L is 280 x 190 - did think it was a bit pricey, and then I noticed Yeomans have it half price . . .

Kampa Staunton 4 is 290 x 200 too, so now there is a real dilemma as I am guessing slightly bigger is better than slightly smaller

Which leads to the Karsten which we like too and it is slightly over in both directions . . .

too much choice aarrgghh!
