Just spent last night garden camping - can't get away for a while yet so taking advantage of the good weather and having a tent sort out! Couldn't decide which to sleep in last night - chose the Calvi so I have to sleep out again tonight so the Calais doesn't get jealous -
------------- Anne - mad mum to one - foster mum to many - adoptatent to you guys!
My husband and son garden camped on Friday night and then the mother in law visited and at 73 she decided she wanted in........ she had not camped for about 40 years and said she had the best nights sleep in ages. She slept on a roll mat with a thermal fleece cover (usually goes over the air beds) and then a duvet on top. She was warm and slept over 10 hours.
Go Granny!
A couple of years back in France we saw a Dutch lady of about that sort of age apparently camping alone. We saw her sitting there every morning doing her crossword or writing postcards looking very much at peace with the world. Somewhere near the end of our 2 weeks we saw her right the other side of the site having dinner with what I guess was her large extended family.
I haven't read the whole thread, but had to reply!!! We camped in the garden this weekend too!!! It was our "trial run" before going out "for real" and all went very well.
I camped out last night with my two daughters in our new acquisition an Argos special Regatta 4 man dome for £34.99, very impressed with tent. My son and his mate slept in an old nameless pup tent.
I had thoughts of going away with said daughters when my 9 year old piped up and said mum you snore I'm not sleeping in a tent with you again - well really how rude!
She obviously can't hear me when we are in the Idaho.OH slept on his own in the house as their was no room for him.
Despite layers and layers, I've got a stiff back this morning and am now contemplating how to improve my sleeping arrangements.(will start another thread)

I'm saving this idea for about 20 years time

My 85 year old mother-in-law does this when she comes camping with us. Always insists on her own pitch slightly away from us. She has her own space when she wants it, but always eats with us and joins in when she wants to.

Ha, that's just what my sons said to me the last time away so they slept in the quechua pop up I had taken as a utility!
