Hey Jake - I nearly opted for the 2011 Nevis just because it has alloy poles, but instead decided to go with the Calisto due to cost.

The Nevis looks like such a nice tent!

Alloy poles for me, but I've got a number of tents with PE coated fibreglass poles and never had any problems with them YET! Reading through the numerous broken/splintered pole threads, i can see a pattern emerging with Vango tents. We've got 2 Small Vango tents with fibreglass poles that dont get many outings, so I'll need to watch out.

Cool campers use Delta Pegs.

I have some experience of both...here goes:

1. Our fibre-glass poled Peakland Hartington is incredibly strong due to its dome structure, it barely moves and we've never lost a pole.

2. Our fibre-glass poled Gelert Horizon lost 2 poles in a very strong gale (we repaied and sold it).

3. So then we went to a Khyam Cleveland with metal poles. It took a few batterings but it shook a hell of a lot. One day we were next to a metal-poled Royal which ,when in strong wind, the poles buckled and snapped and the tent ended up in a wet mess on the ground.

4. We are now on a Kampa Bude 4 with reinforced poles in a semi-geodisic form and thus far we haven't had a single problem.

5. We use steel Deltas whatever the poles/tent.

Good luck!
