Hi, I'm looking for some advice please!

We've just had our first ever camping weekend, which was interesting to say the least!

Our tent was brand new, but  2 sections of our shorter length poles split, as well as 3 of the plastic hook things that you pegged the tent to the ground with (OK not very technical!).  I know it was ridiclously windy, but is this normal?  Would this come under wear and tear or should we go back to the shop where we bought it?

Also, if we can't go back to the shop, does anyone know the size of these poles (colour coded grey) and where I should get replacements from?  I have looked on the Vango website, but cannot work it out!

Thank you!

Nikki

The last 3 poles on this page are the replacements for a Tigris 800. Might have been windy but surprising 2 sections went at same time, had you over flexed the poles when pitching maybe so they weren't as spread as they should have been? Poles always a tough one with dealers though as they tend to be wear and tear

Excellent, thank you very much for the link.

I don't think we overflexed the poles - but it's hard to say as novices!

I had exactly the same problem with my Kura 600 a couple of years ago. The grey and blue sections of the poles on one of the bedroom pods split as I was pitching.

I fixed them with gaffer tape until we got home and then replaced the broken sections of each pole. I'm sure the coloured pole sections aren't as strong as the black ones.

Definitely my fault though as I flexed the poles by lifting them too far off the ground when putting in the second pin.

Regards,

Richard

Hi Richard,

I guess it's a possibility it was over flexed, we were so close to divorce by that stage that I probably wasn't paying enough attention!!

I think that anyone who is planning to get married should be forced to go camping together first (preferbly in high winds with 3 children asking if it's ready yet every 5 minutes!)

Nikki
