HI CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A TIE DOWN STRAP TO GO OVER TRAILER TENT TO STOP BLOWING AWAY

We decided to go for the internal ones as doesn't risk rubbing the canvas. We put the straps round the poles when we pitched. We had such great weather we didn't need the storm strap so left it with just the short loop section round the pole. If the weather had turned we could then attach the long strap and use the big mama of a peg that comes with it.

We bought an awning tie-down kit from Towsure + padded sleeves to help prevent chafing. They worked very well with our folding camper

I can't remember the brand of mine (and I'm not unpacking the TT to find out) but I do know I don't put it over the canvas...I run it under the canvas but over the poles of the stub canopy out the front. No chafing of canvas and the strap can't slip around. I only use it when the wind is getting really evil though.

Remember it's the wind getting under the canvas and lifting it up that's the danger so don't open the door on the windward side if you've got any sort of choice about it, and also make sure your storm flaps are good and tight to the ground. Lay bits of kit along the edge of the canvas to help keep the flaps down and make sure all the windows are fully zipped down and any elastics along the bottom of the windows are snugged down. Keep the cabin door zipped shut as well. If the awning frame does start lifting you can hold it down inside the tent by putting a strap or even the clothes line over the central poles and either pegging it down (a groundsheet is easier to replace than a whole frame and canvas) or getting the heaviest member of the party to hold it down. By this time though you should be thinking of evacuating to the toilet block  TBH.

Don't worry too much about it however. If there's any tent going to be left standing in a storm it's a trailer tent...they're more storm proof than even a frame tent, with the weight of the trailer holding them down. Our elderly Conway Camargue lived through the great Loire storm of 2003 with no damage at all. Most of the other tents in the campsite were in shreds, caravans had been blown across their pitches and half the campsite had ended up sleeping in the toilet block and games room. All we had to do was sweep an inch of leaves off the roof the next morning. We were very impressed by the old girl!
