Help! I was the victim of pigeons yesterday but didn't spot as came back in the dark - only just noticed it this morning when packing up in pouring rain. Scraped off the worst of it but it's that particularly cloying consistency - yuk! - and need advice as to how to get rid of it! Tent is Outwell Fusion so synthetic.

We had the same problem last season we just let it dry and then brushed it off no problem

we had a mixture of different poo as we stayed in a place like Alfred Hitchcocks the birds!

As the tent was wet I just got an old dishcloth and wiped it off with clean water... all fine and dandy

I think the problem is that it was delivered yesterday when we had baking hot sun and then drizzled / rained overnight but I was scraping it off - had to give up in end as would miss ferry. Got home and it's pouring but also blowing a lot so don't want to pitch it out. Hoping for a better day tomorrow and can get it sorted. Does poo affect proofing?

Letting it dry and brushing off normally works, however baby wipes are great too... Have used several times to de-bird poo the tent with no problems at all!!

question - do baby wipes affect waterproofing???

I wouldn't use baby wipes or anything other than water on a tent. When it's dry, brush off then use plain water and a soft brush to get rid of any residue. Same for canvas or synthetics.

If it doesn't brush out, soak some kitchen roll in warm water and hold it against the mark for a while. Then give it a few wipes and it should pretty much all wipe away.

Pigeon poo is very stubborn, once dried - it really is like glue! Haven't had it on the tent (yet!) but have certainly had it on the car; I had to soak it in warm water by leaving a soggy cloth over it, then scraped very gently to shift it. YUK.

I've not encountered any proofing problems using the wipes.
