I don't spend much time bare-footed in the inner tent, except when I get dressed in the morning for about 30s.
When it is cold, I would have the heater on. When it is really cold, in addition to the fan heater, I would have the electric under-blanket switched on at least 30min before I go to bed.
Therefore, I do not feel the need for an inner tent carpet.

It's not really a need thing more a want thing.
I am thinking something a bit thicker than outwells carpets. Maybe more fleecy for extra coziness in a sage green colour.

If I put the picnic blankets on top of the ZIG but under the inner tent, does that still help warm things up? I have a carpet phobia so love the ZIG in the main tent, but for a bit of night time insulation the hubby could put layers where I don't have to touch them. Any thoughts?

Yes that would be fine - any layer insulation that is between you and the ground will keep things warmer.

In the boot of our car we have a carpet piece that was an odment from a carpet shop as its easier to vac dog hair from that than the car carpet. Before we go away, it comes out gets vacuumed and then goes on the floor of the bedroom.
