I agree that its just trial and error and using every single space.

I always put the flat table at the bottom, then the chairs and build up filling every space with socks, a shoe here and there..as long as the tent goes in last, as thats needed first I just build up.

I've managed to come up with a camping set-up for 3 for 4 nights in a wicker hamper 75x45x45cm with only the sleeping bags being stuffed into cushion covers to not be obvious as they won't fit.

Ok - using fabric beach chairs (like ones Outwell do), backpacker tables and a plate bowl each, but otherwise its a full-height tent, footprint, 1 double and single airbed, pump, sleeping bags, tarp, saucepan set, folding toilet, picnic rug/carpet, folding buckets (for washing up and carrying smaller items like UFO lights, repair kit, tea towel, kitchen roll and one as a fire bucket), toy bag, clothes in roll-up bags and all cooking utensils you need including a stove (backpacker stove) and a windshield which fit within the saucepan set. The utensils are generally compact backpacking (tiny but functional) versions, the colander is a brewing mesh (works brill), the water container is the plastic container around a baby warming flask with a vacuum lid (which also works a treat and better than a big container for touring). We have a grater, 2 chopping boards, whisk, oven/heat pad, tongs, 4 sets of cutlery, 3 folding cups, sharp knives, proper tin, can and bottle openers, peeler, mesh colander, olive oil, washing up liquid and sponge, hand-washing flakes, clips, pegs, tiny microfibre towel (from Mountain Warehouse).... etc (all the kitchen items you need) in a small quick to grab digital camera bag. Food for 1 night and breakfasts fit is a small coolbag.

Although, I don't suggest that you need to go so " compact", focusing in on what you really need and finding smaller, more compact and multi-functional items can really help ...
