One of the things I love about camping is that you can be a mile up the road, and a million miles from home. You live at your own pace - you are not tied to meal times. If you want breakfast at 7am or 11am, it is up to you. I love to get up early and sit outside with a cuppa. I will sometimes have a bowl of cereal then, and have a cooked breakfast later in the day. Sometimes we've sat around site just chilling, other days we've had full days out. It us up to use - no itinery to stick to. In the past we've looked at things to do in the area, decided yes we will do that tomorrow, come the next day we've looked at the weather and changed our mine. Or done spur of the moment things on what was going to be a day chilling.
OK over the past two years, especially last year, thanks to serious illness and a couple of family deaths, we were not able to do any weekends away - but we started camping so that we could get weekends away, when we lost the use of a static. Just getting away from it all makes a huge difference - recharges batteries and destresses.

I have a fairly stressful job, and a fairly conscientious personality. I think if we didn't camp through the season, and have the next season to look forward to, I'd go quite mad.
Its a chance to leave the Crackberry at home, ignore the world outside if I want to. Something about the fresh air makes me sleep so much longer, better and feel so much more freshed.
Its like being at home, and home is something I endure between camping trips almost.
When we go away, I arrive a stressed, snappy (sadly, like the camping divorce thread!) neurotic cow, and do home a floating, happy, balanced lady.
Even if it rains, the sound of the rain on the canvas and the wind in the leaves is soothing. The experience is fun! There's a thrill of something primal when you face adverse weather with only a sheet of plastic between you and the elements.
Yes, camping is very good for the soul. It reminds us we're alive

i agree totally like you all i have had a shocking 2 years, have had not one but 2 cancer scares a blood clot i lost my job as a result of it, finally had all the bad bits taken away and felt like getting back to work, started my new job and my dad was diagnosed with an aneurism, he is now housebound and dying at home (his wish), i work full time in sales (stressful enough), i have 3 children, one of which has an attention defecit and i help my mum care for my dad, there are days when i just dont know how im going to get through.
the one thing that keeps me going is the fact that my amazing husband is very supportive and we get away for a night or two whenever we can with the kiddies, because as soon as that tent goes up my life relaxes, its like a button that just switches you off and it heaven and i love it
life is good when you camp
------------- camping sets you free !!!
June - isle of wight
July - devon
and anyway anyhow or anywhere in between
