I want a flag pole ......... what do people use, how do you keep it in the ground and upright ?? obviously i would take it down at night (as they can be noisy, flapping about) just want a landmark for the kids so they can find our tent !
order a carp rod off ebay or just type in "flag pole" you will get a carp rod ours is 7mtrs, i use an old frame tent pole that i bang into the ground then slide the pole over it
Never taken ours down on a night time i dont think they are that noisy
fishing pole thats all they are, you can get them from about a tenner, and if its as shortish 6m one just use a wooden windbreak pole hammered into the ground.
We got ours from the same place as 3madboyz, we have a St Andrews windsock and we usually do take it down at night, more to prevent it annoying the neighbours than anything else! We got it for the same reason, so the kids could find the tent easily, works a treat. I can't remember whether we also bought a ground stake or whether one came with the pole.
------------- April/May - Georgia destroyed in high winds sob
May - Loch Ken, 1st outing for the wolf lake
July - Waterside House, Lake District
July - Inside Park, Dorset
I like the poles that they sell on lifes a breeze they are thicker than some of the poles that you get and they have a bigger top ring to hold the spinner or wind sock
3madboyz, I love the site, the choice is endless. I never thought of just using a fishing pole, And the way of securing them to the ground is easier than I thought.
Hi.
I too am about to buy a flag pole for camping next week, what I would like to do is attach more than one flag, can this be done?
I can see you can buy sleeves for adding the wind socks & twisters but wasn't sure about flags as they have 2 eyelets, any suggestions ?
Thanks
Oh ok, it really is as simple as attaching the bungee's ? That's brilliant then and funnily enough the telescopic pole i'm going for is from Skyblue too..
Is there any height that is looked on as overkill on a camp site ? I was going to go for a 6 metre and 2 spikes, it really was the multiple flags I couldn't work out..
So the bungees go through the eyelets and then onto the pole yeah, but what stops the flags from sliding down the pole, lol..
Thanks for your help
Cable ties through the eyelets and pulled tight enough to stop each flag in the right place - as the pole is tapered they will slide back over the narrow end when you want to take them off rather than have to cut and replace the ties each day.
