What do your teenagers do when camping? We love quiet sites with nothing much there but we are taking our 13 year old step daughter for the first time (she's been camping before but to haven type sites with swimming pools, arcades etc). Our little ones are happy to go play in the park, make friends and play games etc but nit sure about older ones. She I taking her friend so she won't be on her own.

Take her to a campsite near a beach ,forest or hill walks .

Let her and her friends see what they like . Without all the entertainment .

Otherwise I suggest you camp near Pwllheli ,Criccieth or Abersoch . North Wales .Haven Holiday park is there In the area . If all else fails fails .

There are lots of quite sites also. You should find on the site finder .

Excellent - very informative, if only there was a teenager kennel we could leave them at, to get fed, watered and exercised (or do I mean exorcised), until we come back from a trip.

Only kidding kids, you are a joy  to take camping now.

Something that worked for us was to let different age groups decide what to do. Um, I don't think that makes sense. For example: day 1 little kids choose (usually the beach); day 2 teenagers choose (usually something disgusting); day 3 adults choose (walking the coast path was often our choice) and so on and so forth. That way everybody gets to do something they want. We did have a rule that we could only afford 2 expensive days out in a holiday so teenagers would choose one and little kids could choose the other (watch out for evidence of bribery if the 5 year old chooses go karting).

Wow, that condenses down nicely to "give us all our own way and don't expect any help in return!"

I would leave the teen with an elderly relative until they got with the programme!

That list misses out straighteners if it's girls which means access to mains either in the toilet block or EHU. Last time I took Shaune before I got EHU she sulked until she found out she could use hers in the ladies. Oh and they need to be able to recharge their phones.

Don't know about girls but for boys...
Always let them have the best chair, otherwise they will sulk.
If they have forgotten something accept that it is your fault and suggest they we may be able to buy one next time we're in town, otherwise they will sulk.
If there's a choice between chippy and home cooked sausage and mash, go with the chippy, otherwise they will sulk.
If they burst their airbed give them yours, otherwise they will sulk.
If barbecuing let them do it, otherwise they will sulk.

Obey these simple rules and they will have a marvellous time, you, on the other hand...

Choose a site with Wi-fi then they can moan about how bored they are to their friends on Facebook rather than to you

I must admit I don't think my two have ever complained at being bored while camping and they are now 14 and (nearly) 18.  My lad never goes on holiday without his rugby ball, if he doesn't find anyone else to play with he's happy to just practice his kicking.  He also reads when we're camping which he doesn't do at home! My daughter is almost an adult now, but she likes to read too and they both play cards alot when on holiday.

We always have EHU and we take iPods and laptops, usually find that buying a dongle is a cheaper option than sites wifi, unless it's free of course!  If we go for a fortnight we take a telly, but that's usually just for late evenings or rainy afternoons.

This summer my daughter is holidaying with friends before joining us camping so i've said our lad can have a mate up for a few nights.

I suppose it all depends how your kids adapt and how much they need occupying - we took a group of boys from our rugby team to Butlins last weekend, one of the boys complained to his mum when he got home he was bored, well with the amount of stuff to do there, I would say he wasn't the type to take camping!!!

Well what can I say, I have a 15yr old Son and he loves it when we go camping, he gets just as excited as me about going. I suppose its just the way he is, he loves to be outside and not stuck indoors. He will help us put the Tent up and help with cooking and come for walks with us. He is not bothered about internet, and all the games that kids have although he does have them.
